A Father Who Never Quits

“God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.”

Have you ever wondered what would make someone search through 16 acres of rubble for three months straight?

Lee Lelpi knew the answer. The retired New York firefighter made a vow after September 11th: he would not stop digging until he found his son Jonathan's body in the Twin Towers wreckage. Firefighters have a creed: when a fellow firefighter falls, he's never left behind. For 91 days, this father searched. On December 11th, exactly three months later, he found his son and carried him out of the rubble. 

Though Lelpi’s story is heartbreaking, it’s also a picture of your Heavenly Father's unrelenting faithfulness. God’s character is rock-solid; He speaks with certainty and acts without hesitation. When you fail Him, He remains faithful. When you forget Him, He remembers you. When you fall, He picks you up.

Your faithfulness may waver, but His never does. You can't decrease His faithfulness through your failures or increase it through your successes. His faithfulness isn't tied to your performance; it's anchored in His unchanging character.

No matter which direction you're headed, God's faithfulness walks beside you. Just as Lee Lelpi's love for his son never wavered, your Heavenly Father's commitment to you never ends.
