Daily Worship Reset

May 20, 2025

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. "
John 4:23 (NIV)

When was the last time your spiritual GPS recalibrated?

On April 6, 2019, the 24 satellites comprising America's Global Positioning System required a complete reset. Without this scheduled update every nineteen years, the entire system—from military defense coordinates to the maps on your phone—would have deteriorated into dysfunction. The reset restored precision to navigation systems worldwide.

Your spiritual life needs similar regular resets. When Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman about worship, He wasn't addressing a congregation but an individual. The surprising truth is that many Christians struggle during corporate worship because of this: we haven't been nurturing our personal worship throughout the week.

The renowned pianist Paderewski insisted on practicing scales for three hours daily. When questioned about this discipline, he explained, "If I skip one day of scales, I'll notice it. If I skip two days, my coach will notice it. If I skip three days, the world will notice it."

Your daily worship disciplines function similarly. Skip connecting with God today, and you might notice something's off. Skip a few days, and others might begin to see the difference. Skip consistently, and your spiritual state becomes obvious to everyone.

The truth is, you don't come to church to worship; you bring your worship with you as the natural overflow of a heart already in tune with God through daily private devotion. Today's worship won't sustain tomorrow's challenges. Each day requires its own spiritual reset.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of connecting with You in worship. Help me establish a daily rhythm of worship that keeps my heart calibrated to Yours. Draw me into Your presence consistently, not just during weekend services so that my worship is an overflow of connecting with you each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
