"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus'".
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
Have you ever started a project with great enthusiasm, only to abandon it halfway through? Your garage might reveal that evidence: half-finished crafts, unused exercise equipment, or books you started but didn’t read to the end.
The good news for you today is that God never abandons what He starts. The moment you placed your faith in Jesus, God began a supernatural work inside you that he will absolutely complete.
His work isn’t just for others, either. I once heard Charles Stanley tell a group of young pastors, “God is more interested in building you than He is in building His church.”
That Greek word used in this verse for “began” is a compound verb meaning “to begin in” used only twice in the New Testament, both times referring to God’s work of salvation starting inside of you. That is, God doesn’t just work around you or even for you—He works inside you. Your focus changes from what you want God to do for you to what God has already determined to do in you.
God’s commitment to finish His work in you is as certain as His character. When you stumble, He doesn’t quit. When you fail, He doesn’t walk away.
This means you can face today with confidence. God isn’t finished with you yet! The work He started will be completed, not because of your faithfulness, but because of His. You can trust that God’s work in you is as certain as His character. What He starts, He will finish.
Prayer: Father, I praise You for being the Great Finisher. Thank You for never giving up on me. When I feel discouraged by my failures, remind me that You're still working in me. Help me trust Your process, not my performance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
