I Am

“He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.” - Deuteronomy 32:4

Yellowstone National Park, located in Wyoming, is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States. I would dare to say that almost every single person who visits the Park has one common site they desire to visit: The Upper Geyser Basin that contains Old Faithful. Most Americans, even if they’ve never visited Yellowstone, know about Old Faithful. The Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition due to the predictability and frequency of her magnificent eruptions named her in 1870. Old Faithful was the first geyser in the Park to receive a name, and is also called the most predictable geographical feature on Earth, erupting almost every 91 minutes.

The fruit of faithfulness, borne by the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer, is the character of one who can be relied on. It is the idea of trust and holy fervor born of faith and joined with it. In other words, faith in Christ leads in faithfulness to Christ. And faithfulness to Christ leads to faithfulness to others, as commanded in His Word.

Before we can even begin to practice faithfulness, we must know and believe that God Himself is faithful. When I say, “believe” that God is faithful; I do not merely mean an intellectual assent. True biblical faith runs much deeper than the mind – it reaches to the depths of the heart, changing our value system. This shift is reflected in how we think and act…but it does not begin with behavior.

God’s name is “I Am” – Jehovah – Yaweh. His name declares His being, the essence of who He is. From this springs His works. He declares I Am Faithful… I Am Love…I Am Forgiving…I Am Holy. This is who He is, and what He does always lines up with who He is.

When we are born again, we receive God’s Spirit…not on us, but in us. His faithfulness is now our faithfulness, His love our love. Believers now have the capacity to bear the fruit of His Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. It is the great mystery hidden for generations but revealed to us – Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

Dear God, Thank You for Your faithfulness to me, even when I am not faithful. Help me to remember that Your ways are perfect and I can trust You in all things.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
