Leave a Trail of Seed

“Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.”
Psalm 126:6 (NIV)

Picture a farmer walking across his field, furrow after furrow, dropping seed with every step.

That's the image Psalm 126:6 gives us: "Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow," literally, leaving a trail of seed wherever you walk. It’s not sowing once or twice. But consistently, continuously, and everywhere you go.

Think about it. Your only job is to sow the seed. It's not your job to force the harvest. That's why you're called a witness, not a lawyer. A lawyer argues a case. A witness just tells what he's seen, what he's heard, and what's happened to him.

Jesus models this everywhere He goes. He meets a woman at a well and asks about living water. Think about how He'd share with a butcher: "Have you heard of the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world?" With a baker: "Ever tasted the Bread of Life?" With a candlestick maker: "Let me tell you about the Light of the World."

Jesus connects the gospel to people's everyday world.

Try it this week. Every day, ask one person one question that opens the door to spiritual conversation. Your waitress? "What's bringing you joy today?" Your coworker? "How can I pray for you?" You're not forcing anything. You're just leaving a trail of seed.

Not every seed will bear fruit, but the ones who say yes are worth a thousand nos.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me divine appointments today. Help me see them! Give me wisdom to connect Your truth to people's real lives. Make me faithful to sow, trusting You for the harvest. In Your Name, Jesus, Amen.
