Make Time for Love

February 20, 2026

"My beloved speaks and says to me, 'Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone.'"
Song of Solomon 2:10-11 (ESV)

When did you last give your spouse your undivided attention for an entire evening?

Marriage is just like a plant. A plant needs water to stay alive and time is the water you pour on a marriage to keep it alive. Do you know how you spell love in a marriage? T-I-M-E.

Nothing communicates to your spouse that they're your number one priority more than when you give the most valuable thing you possibly can—your time.

You might be thinking, "We have small children" or "We can't afford expensive dates." But where there is a will, there is a way. The key is making your marriage a priority, and creativity costs nothing.

Go to the grocery store together. Join your husband in his hobby. Even if you don't particularly enjoy the activity, you'll enjoy being with him. Give your wife a day where whatever she wants to do, that's what you do. The gift of time works both ways.

The bottom line is that both of you need to communicate that you want to spend time together. This week, carve out two hours where you devote all your attention to each other without phones or distractions. Watch how that time rejuvenates your love.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for my spouse. Help me prioritize them with my time. Show me creative ways to connect, and give me the desire and discipline to protect our time together. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
