The Appointed Time

What are you waiting on God for right now?

Abraham and Sarah know the feeling as they hold one promise for 25 years. Year one is manageable. By year five or ten, you start wondering if you heard God wrong. Year twenty-five? Perhaps you’ve given up. Then comes today’s verse in the Word of God that began a nation and a kingdom: "Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him" (Genesis 21:2, NIV).

That phrase "at the very time" comes from one single Hebrew word meaning "the appointed time." Isaac arrives on a schedule God sets before Abraham ever receives the promise. From Isaac to Jacob, from Jacob to Judah, from Judah to David, from David to Jesus, every single link in that chain arrives exactly when God plans it, not a day early and not a day behind.

God is never worried about time. He is concerned with timing. He never gets in a hurry, never scrambles to catch up, and He has not forgotten what He told you. His plan to bless every nation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ is right on schedule. So is whatever He has promised you.

Write down the specific thing you've been waiting on. Next to it, write today's date and these words: "At the very time God has promised." Come back to it. He is not finished.

Prayer: Father, the waiting is hard and there are days my faith wears thin. Remind me today that You are not running late. Your timing is always appointed, not accidental. I'm trusting You with what I've been holding. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
