The Battery at 5%

January 8, 2026

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms"
1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

You know that moment when your phone flashes the red battery warning, 5% remaining, entering low-power mode?

That's exactly where many of us are spiritually right now. Running on fumes and hanging on for dear life. Just trying to make it through the day before we completely crash.

The truth is, you don't just recharge by taking in more; you recharge by pouring out. It's one of the great paradoxes of following Jesus. To become great, humble yourself and serve others. To fill up, give away.

In today’s verse, Peter says, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms" (1 Peter 4:10, NIV). Read that again. You're not just serving people; you're managing grace itself. God has entrusted you with the duty of portioning out His grace to a world desperate for it.

This isn't just about signing up for the occasional mission trip or doing random acts of kindness. This is an everyday calling to lay down your life for others through humble service. Let it become your way of life, not a special event.

Think about it. The manager who hoards the resources goes bankrupt while the one who distributes them wisely multiplies what he's been given. You have gifts, talents, and opportunities. Every day you choose whether you will be a faithful steward or whether grace remains unused in your hands.

Your battery doesn't recharge by doing nothing. It recharges when you plug into your purpose, serving others in Jesus' name.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting me as a steward of Your grace. Change my heart to make me more servant-minded. Open my eyes to the opportunities You've prepared for me today to portion out Your grace to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
