The God Who Brings

October 28, 2025

“Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man."
  (Genesis 2:22, NIV)

What if God’s timing is better than your own?

It’s wonderful to watch God work in Eden. He causes Adam to fall into a deep sleep and takes one of his ribs. See how God takes the first woman from the man's side, to be by his side. Not above him, not below him, but beside him. Then God does something that many of us miss: He brings her to Adam.

Notice also that God brings Adam a woman, not a man. According to God's design, there are only two genders, and they alone make up a true biblical marriage. But here’s what you also need to know: From beginning to end, marriage has never primarily been about a woman and a man. It's been about God.

Whose idea was this marriage? God's.

Who planned it? God.

Who provided the husband and presented the bride? God.

Eve becomes the only bride given away by God Himself.

When you're tempted to settle for someone who doesn't share your faith, close that dating app. The God who brought Eve to Adam will bring His best for you, whether that's marriage or something even better.

God is still in the building business and the bringing business. And the only person you should ever consider marrying is the person you truly believe God has brought to you. And if He delays or decides marriage isn't His plan for you, remember: The same God who said 'it is not good for man to be alone' will satisfy your deepest need for companionship Himself.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your timing and Your bringing. Help me trust You for what You provide rather than settling for what I can find on my own. Give me discernment to recognize who and what You are bringing into my life today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
