“But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15 (NIV)
What if your courage to lead spiritually today could create a legacy that outlasts every other accomplishment?
When Joshua declared his loyalty to the Lord, He didn't send a poll out to his neighbors. He made a decision and drew his line in the sand: "As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15)
This wasn't just a suggestion or a nice idea—it was a declaration of leadership. Joshua exhibited a "last one standing" mentality, willing to stand alone if necessary. That's your mandate, too.
When you choose to follow the Lord wholeheartedly, you'll often be in the minority. Your family might be the only one attending church when others sleep in. You might be the only one praying before meals in restaurants. You might be the only one setting boundaries around what you watch on Netflix.
These are everyday decisions. Standing and leading your family to serve God happens when you participate in church, read Scripture together, pray as a family, and give financially. Practicing these habits shows your family that relationship with God, His people, His Word, and stewardship all matter.
Like Joshua, you can establish non-negotiable spiritual practices in your home. Then faith isn’t optional, it’s part of your routine, your beliefs and lifestyle. This isn't about being a dictator; it's about being a leader who cares more about your family's spiritual future than today’s comfort.
No matter what professional accolades you receive, what does it mean if your family’s spiritual life stagnates? It’s never too late to start. As you do, you’ll cultivate a legacy of faith and change the entire spiritual trajectory of your family.
Prayer: Father, thank You for trusting me with the responsibility to lead in faith. Give me the courage to lead myself and my family spiritually, even when it's unpopular or difficult. Help me establish standards that honor You and protect those I love. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
