The Sanctity of Life

October 31, 2025

“For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
Psalm 139:13 (NIV)

What if your parents called you an accident, but God called you a masterpiece?

The phrase 'sanctity of life' has been debated, politicized, and trampled on by a culture that no longer believes it's true. But strip away the politics, and here's what God's Word says about you: you’re designed on purpose by your heavenly Father.

In today’s verse, King David praises God as the Creator of his inmost being—literally his kidneys, his internal organs—and the One who "knit" him together in the womb. David doesn't describe a God who sets life in motion and sits back, but a God who personally and precisely creates you down to your most inward parts.

Think about that word, “knit.” Your grandmother knits. She doesn't throw yarn at needles and hope for the best. She carefully, intentionally, stitch by stitch, creates something beautiful. That's what God did with you.

He wasn't surprised by your conception. He wasn't caught off guard by your DNA. He didn't accidentally create you. And here's how we know God views the womb as sacred: He placed His own Son in one. If the womb was good enough for Jesus, it's a holy place.

When you feel unwanted this week—when that voice whispers "You were a mistake"—look in the mirror and say out loud: "God knit me together. I'm not an accident; I'm His handiwork." Then thank God for one specific thing about how He made you: your mind, your hands, your heart for justice, your ability to encourage others.

You weren't mass-produced. You were hand-knit by God Himself. That's not politics; that's His promise.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your divine purpose for my life. When I feel like an accident, remind me that You don't accidentally do anything. You knit me together, stitch by stitch, with purpose and precision. Help me see myself and others through Your eyes. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.
