“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 (NIV)
What if everything the Bible says about heaven and hell is actually, literally true, and you're the only person who can tell your coworker before it's too late?
Jesus’ words in this verse make it clear He is the gatekeeper to everything in God and all that He offers. Throughout God’s Word, it’s clear that there's an afterlife called heaven that is perfect and more wonderful than you can imagine. It also teaches that the only way to get there is through Jesus Christ.
Our culture treats this as "one way of believing" among many options. Even Christians sometimes view the Bible as authentic and helpful, but maybe not completely literal. Noah's Ark? Really?
But if you believe the Bible and believe Jesus is who He says He is, you face a dilemma. The gospel becomes the most important information you can possibly know and share. Paul said in Romans 9 that this reality caused him great sorrow and anguish. It was the knowledge that people close to him face an eternity in hell unless someone shares Christ's truth with them.
Many Christians leave evangelism to someone else. The pastor, the minister, the zealous Christian friend. Maybe bringing your kids to church or praying before meals is enough. But is it?
If the Bible is true, it must change what you spend your time doing and how you view your relationships. You possess the greatest news, the greatest gift, and the greatest truth of all time.
Why not ask someone who doesn’t know Jesus to join you for coffee this week? When you meet, pay attention to what’s going on in their life. Then, when the moment feels right, just say, "Can I tell you what Jesus has done for me?"
Don't overthink it, just share your story. You just have to ask. God handles everything else.
Prayer: God, thank You for the gift of heaven. Give me a burden to share the Good News of Jesus with everyone I know. I want to love people the way You do. Give me the courage to speak up this week. In Jesus' name, Amen.
