Created For A Purpose

"After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him."
John 13:5 (NIV)

Have you ever watched someone with authority perform a menial task?

When President Reagan was recovering from an assassination attempt, an aide found him on his hands and knees wiping water from the floor. When asked what he was doing, Reagan explained, "I was worried my nurse might get in trouble."

In John 13, Jesus models this same spirit of humble service. On the night before His crucifixion, with the weight of the world on His shoulders, He doesn't focus on Himself. Instead, He takes a towel and washes His disciples' feet—a job reserved for the lowest servants.

True greatness isn't found in position but in service. When you follow Jesus, you are created to serve like Him.

The One who created the universe wrapped a towel around His waist and knelt before those He created. Jesus showed us that leadership means serving, not being served. His actions demonstrate that no task is beneath us when done in love.

Today, where can you "take up the towel" in your relationships? What menial task can you perform that would demonstrate Christ's love to someone else? Remember, when you serve others, you're not just following Jesus—you're revealing Him to the world.

Prayer: Father, thank You Help me become more aware of what I'm allowing into my heart, and establish stronger boundaries against harmful influences. Let me open wider doors to Your truth. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
