"So Abram went, as the Lord had told him."
Genesis 12:4 (NIV)
Have you ever believed God would provide but been terrified to actually trust Him?
Pastor Rusty George sits exhausted on a bus with students headed home from camp. They pull into McDonald's. As they're getting off, Ryan walks by. Rusty stops him and says, "Ryan, here's twenty dollars. Get me a #5 meal and keep the change for your lunch." Ryan gives him a strange look.
Hours later, Rusty learns why. Ryan looked stunned because the night before, he believed God was calling him to give all his lunch money to missions. He really believed God would provide. As he stepped off that bus, God provided.
This is Genesis 12:4 in action: "So Abram went, as the Lord had told him." He doesn't know the WHERE, the WHAT, or the WHY. But he knows the WHO. He doesn't know what his future will hold, but he knows Who will hold his future.
There's a difference between believing and faith. Somebody said, "Faith is belief with legs on it." You can believe a plane will fly, but you don't have faith until you get on it. When God says "I will," He will.
Maybe God's asking you to forgive someone who hasn't apologized, and everything in you screams it's not fair. That's when faith moves. Pray that God gives you the words and the courage. Then reach out. Maybe it's a text, maybe it's a conversation. But take the step before you see how it turns out.
Faith doesn't just talk—it walks.
If God met a student at McDonald's with twenty dollars, He'll meet you in your next step too.
Prayer: Father, thank You that I can trust You in small and big ways each day. Help me move from saying I believe you, to walking out my faith in my decisions and relationships. When You call me to step out in obedience, give me Ryan's courage to trust You'll provide. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
