"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
Joshua 1:8 (NIV)
What if the secret to real success isn't another self-help book, but something that's been sitting on your shelf collecting dust?
Everyone wants to be successful. You see it in trophy cases, corner offices, and Instagram feeds, all showing adventure and accomplishment. Joshua 1:8 tells us that spiritual success is completely different. It's a close, passionate, meaningful relationship with God. And you find it through His Word.
In today’s verse, God tells Joshua to meditate on Scripture day and night. The word "meditate" paints the picture of a cow chewing cud—taking it in, processing it over and over until it becomes part of you. That's how God's Word transforms you. You're not just reading information. You're letting truth reshape how you see everything.
Real success isn't money, status, or experiences. It's knowing God and being known by Him through faith in Jesus.
Take a challenge this week. Pick one verse from Joshua 1. Write it on a sticky note and put it on your bathroom mirror. Every morning while brushing your teeth, rehearse it three times in your mind.
By Friday, you'll have it committed to memory. Then watch how that truth starts showing up in your decisions throughout the day. That's meditation in action. It’s taking God's Word from your mirror into your life.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word. Help me move beyond just reading it to actually living it. Give me wisdom to know what real success looks like in Your eyes. Transform my thinking as I meditate on Your truth every day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
