Nowhere to Hide

February 27, 2026

"But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the Lord; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out."
Numbers 32:23 (NIV)

Have you ever deleted a text message, hoping no one would ever see it?

Moses stands at the edge of the Promised Land with Israel. Two of the twelve tribes want to stop short of crossing the Jordan River because they prefer the comfortable land on the east side. But God commanded the entire nation to enter together and possess the land.

So Moses warns them in today's passage, "But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the Lord; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out" (Numbers 32:23). Notice he doesn't say others will find out, though they might. He says your sin will find you out.

You can choose to enter sin's darkness, but you cannot hide from its consequences. Sin will control you, corrupt you, and condemn you.

We think we're hiding when we're really just postponing discovery. Maybe it’s gossip disguised as concern or money skimmed from the business. It could be pornography behind locked doors or fantasy in romance novels.

Tomorrow, when you're tempted, ask God to help you choose confession over concealment. And when you've already crossed the line, don't compound it by continuing to hide. Schedule a coffee date this week with a friend and confess what you've been concealing. Say out loud, "I need to tell you something I've been hiding."

Sin costs more than you want to pay. But honest confession stops its trajectory. Your vulnerability now protects your marriage, your integrity and your peace. And God's grace meets you the moment you step into the light.

Prayer: Father, thank You that You found me and rescued me from the power of sin. I confess that I've believed the lie that I could hide from the consequences of my sin. Forgive me for choosing darkness over light. Thank You that Your grace is greater than my sin and that confession leads to freedom, not condemnation. Help me walk in the light today. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
