"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:10-11 (NIV)
What does true glory look like?
I remember watching the Olympics as a kid, mesmerized by John Williams' anthem "Summon the Heroes" as athletes entered the stadium. These competitors had trained their entire lives for one moment of glory—standing on that podium, receiving acknowledgement as the world's best. We watch their incredible feats over and over, amazed by their achievements.
But let me remind you, my friend, human glory is just a faded reflection of God's glory. Those Olympic moments that captivate us are designed to help us understand what it means to give glory to our true Hero—Jesus Christ.
Today’s Scripture reminds us that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus as Lord. This isn't just casual acknowledgment; it's recognition of the most glorious event in history—Jesus on the cross, in the grave, and alive again. His sacrifice displayed every aspect of God's character: love, justice, grace, and mercy in one incredible act.
You don’t have to wait until eternity to give Him the glory He deserves. Let your obedience, humility, and desire to know Him bring glory to His name today. You can make Him your Hero now, while there's still time to choose.
Prayer: God, may You be glorified through my life today. I praise You for the example of Jesus and the empowering presence of His Spirit. Help me live in a way that points others to Jesus, my true Hero. In His Name, Amen.
