" So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him.”
Genesis 12:4 (NIV)
Clayton Christensen, the late Harvard Business School professor, had a rule that caught my eye. He said it's easier to hold your principles 100% of the time than 98% of the time. The moment you leave that 2% crack open, doubt slips through, and doubt starts making your decisions for you.
That's exactly what happens to Abraham. Genesis 12:4 starts strong, "So Abram went, as the LORD had told him." You think he's all in. Then quite the bomb drops, "and Lot went with him." That wasn't the deal. God said go. Abraham went—mostly.
Small compromises rarely feel dangerous. They feel reasonable. Lot was family and Harran was familiar. But Abraham wasn't where God told him to be, and that 2% of doubt lingering in his heart meant God’s purposes for His life were delayed.
Doubt doesn't announce itself. It just quietly takes the wheel.
A young man sat across from me in my office not long ago, wrestling with his doubts. He leaned forward and asked, "Have you ever doubted?" I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Of course I have. And so have you.
And if you walked into my office today, I'd ask you a question: Where is that 2% showing up in your life? What's the small thing you've been excusing, postponing, or halfway obeying?
Offer God 100% trust today through your obedience—He always meets you at full surrender.
Prayer: Lord, You are Lord, creator of heaven and earth. I remember who I’m praying to today! Show me where I've been 98% committed and calling it faith. Help me entrust my desires, decisions and doubts to you. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
