"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality."
1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NIV)
Why does a two-minute moment in front of a screen leave you feeling empty for hours afterward?
Because pornography promises connection but delivers isolation. It offers intimacy but creates distance from your spouse, from authentic relationships, and most importantly, from God.
The pervasiveness of pornography and the worship of sex is due in no small part to the activity of demons. This isn't about shame, it's about recognizing the spiritual battle you're fighting. Satan targets your sexuality because he knows it's one of God's most sacred gifts.
The deeper problem is that sin acts like a two-by-four nailed over a wall outlet; it blocks your connection with God. When you choose pornography, you're not just viewing images; you're allowing false intimacy to replace a real relationship with your Creator.
But remember your hope, that He who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (See 1 John 4:4) The same Holy Spirit power that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside you. You don’t have to rely on willpower when you have His power.
This week, when temptation hits, instead of opening that browser, pray immediately: "God, you've already given me everything I need for life and godliness. I choose your intimacy over this counterfeit."
Then call a trusted friend or walk outside. Take physical action to break the cycle. The Lord your God doesn't want shame to define you. He wants freedom to transform you.
Prayer: Father, thank you that no sin is stronger than your grace. I don’t want any counterfeit to keep me from being close to You and others. Give me the courage to seek accountability and the strength to choose your way over the enemy's lies. Create in me a pure heart that desires You above all else. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
